There are two versions of Update 1. General Update 1 is available for all XE8 users without Update Subscription. It includes iOS 8 simulator fix, Community Toolbar and few other files missing in XE8 RTM.
The “real update” is Subscription Update 1 and is available only for users with Update Subscription. Not only that…if you try and install this version on your XE8 without Update Subscription, your product might stop working and you need to re-install it from original XE8 release!! Subscription Update includes actual bug fixes – about 170 bugs in RTL, Firemonkey, IDE, Data components etc…
This is the way new updates will be distributed (at least until Embarcadero change this again…who knows). Like it or not, Update Subscription became almost “mandatory”.
